Project „Path of Cross-border Communities to Wellbeing“ (LTPL00311)

Pontiff A. Baranauskas Foundation “Lithuanian House” in Sejny, in collaboration with the Varėna District Marcinkonys Multifunctional Centre, is implementing the joint project titled “Path of Cross-border Communities to Well-being” (LTPL00311). The project is co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Lithuania-Poland 2021-2027 Cooperation Programme.

The project aims to empower the inhabitants of the Marcinkonys and Sejny regions by supporting essential activities that address their needs, enhance cross-border community well-being, and strengthen people-to-people ties and international cooperation.

As part of the project, the following activities will be carried out:

- Workshops (crafts, music, and theatre) for children, adults, and seniors from Sejny and Marcinkonys regions. Here are some highlights from the first workshop in Sejny.

- Four joint Academies (two in Sejny and two in Marcinkonys) to explore various crafts and skills, learn about volunteering, and foster international relations.

- Three joint events - “Kiemų festivaliai” (two in Sejny and one in Marcinkonys) to bring local communities together and strengthen the partnership between project collaborators.

Project duration: 12 months (01 December 2024 – 30 November 2025).

Total project value: EUR 157.333,00. EU funding: EUR 125.866,39.

„Here we live - here we are jointly acting”

Project partners:

Project are implementation by two NGOs:

- Rural community of Meteliai "Between Dusia and Metelys"

- Pontiff A. Baranauskas foundation “Lithuanian House” in Sejny.

Both NGOs are actively working for the benefit of their communities.

Objective of the project is to decrease social and cultural exclusion and increase the quality of life of inhabitants of rural areas of Sejny and Meteliai, through enhancement and promotion of healthy and active ageing, promotion of traditional and local crafts, creation of new cultural and social cooperation links not only between inhabitants of rural areas but also between NGOs, acting for well being of their communities.

Activities

Within project implementation period 18 different actions for older people at risk of poverty and social exclusion as well as members of their families living in Meteliai and Sejny areas will be organised, it is expected that more that 700 participants will take part in them. Among the planned actions 10n will be joint events in which almost 650 participants both from Lithuania and Poland will take part. Both beneficiaries believe that by combining forces, experience and positive attitude of local communities of the LT-PL borderline area and with the help of EU support, it will be possible to do much more and achieve much bigger social effect, which will bring invaluable added value for both communities and their surroundings.

Activity: Healthy life style activities through sport
